I have read that a couple of you folks have been to Pomona for the Winternationals or there for the swap meet.  I do have a couple travel questions if you do not mind.  I was planning on flying down to the Grand National Roadster Show at the same location. Did you fly into LAX and then motor over to the Fairplex?  I was planning to taxi over but they are quoting me close to $200 for the near 2 hour drive???? Also did you hotel in the area?  I was thinking maybe renting a car but they will not guarantee having one.......Thanks Doug

If it isn't just a one day trip, I'd consider flying into San Francisco or San Jose and renting a car. It is only a 5 hour trip down to Pomona and the coast highway is one of the world's greatest drives. You may have better luck with the rental as well. You will also have better luck finding accommodation north of LA. Be sure to visit the NHRA museum located at the Fairplex.

I was there at the swap meet in 2008 or 09 and it is quite a show for someone coming from Ontario to take in. Myself and a bud had flown from here to Lax and rented a car but stayed with another friend in Rancho Cucamonga, basically a suburb of LA. My friend down there owns Westech Performance and collects big block vettes so he is always at these meets looking for parts but for us it was the highlight of that trip.

I have heard there is a shortage of rental cars in various high traffic destinations due to covid as most of the rental companies had sold off a bunch of their inventory that was sitting due to the lock down and if you do find a car you won't like the price's either. You really need your own wheels to get around down there and it is relatively easy with their road system down there. You might want to snoop some of the smaller airports in the area, ie Ontario as they might give you a definite reservation for one, it won't be none stop from here but worth the change up.

Last time i flew down, 2011 i think lol, myself and a bud with our better halfs went down for the photo shoot on my 572 motor at Westech. We flew into Ontario with a change up in Denver and it was much more relaxed than LAX and we stayed in a hotel in Fontana. Anywhere around Ontario would be an hour or so drive to Pomona with their hiway network.

Truthfully Doug I don't know if this is the right time to be trying that trip. I just checked the site for the January show and they aren't asking for proof of vaccination and limiting the number of attendance instead. You could fly into anywhere down there but maybe not guaranteed you will get in to the show.

I get notification about Pomona swap meets. They have about 10 a year. Anyone can receive them, just have to clic that you want them.      I was told the swap in March or April was the best to attend
