I am not a hot rodder per se. I have a couple of Japanese sports cars that I have played around with, but I drifted away from that scene, and moved into the realm of classic/antique cars (which is what initially sparked my interest in cars when I was a kid).
Thirty-four years ago my head was turned from the ubiquitous tri-five Chevys that every young guy who likes classic cars is into, by something I had never seen before. A '57 Cadillac convertible. Well, I set my mind to it that I would work as hard as I could, and still probably never own one.
Thirty years, and many cars later, my patience and lack of faith paid off (mostly for a dealership in California...) and I took a huge leap of faith by purchasing a white '57 Coupe de Ville. Site... ...unseen.
The car was listed, described, and priced as a running and driving car. Not perfect. Presentable. A driver.
Well, big surprise, it was none of those things.
That started a four year journey to get it back on the road, and my subsequent arrival here.
I don't know if there is any interest in a car like my Caddy here. If there is, I can post a rebuild thread in gruesome detail, depending on how easy it is to post photos here. If not, that is fine.
I am mainly here for the local knowledge, because I have come to the realization that no man is an island.
I look forward to browsing the boards, seeing your projects, gaining some inspiration, and soaking up some knowledge.
Hi Ryan, and welcome to the forum. The pics of your caddy are great! She looks real nice. Hope all is working out for you and the car. She is a beaut, for sure. Being fortunate to be the owner of a 95 fleetwood brougham, I can share your enthusiasm for a caddy. Love em! I will keep my eyes and ears open if I run across any parts, info, etc. about your year and model. In the meantime, happy rodding!

I love that generation Fleetwood and Fleetwood Brougham. I wanted to buy a 1996 last year to replace my old crown vic, but my current insurance company won't insure anything over 20 years old. They suggested Hagerty (which my Caddy, my Z, and my Prelude are insured with), but I needed something to fulfill the role of daily driver for them, and to get myself around. I found other companies, but they wanted too much per month for it. I ended up with a 2010 Lincoln Town Car with 872000kms on it instead. The Lincoln is a fine car, but I really wanted that Brougham.
Welcome from Vineland Ryan. LOVE that Caddy, nice work. A friend down my way has a '59 ragtop.....haven't seen it out in awhile. I'll need to ask him about it. Enjoy the site, there are some very talented guys here.
