Was there any chance of some kind of payout (in cash, parts or services) when running Holley, Edelbrock, Centerline, STP (for example) stickers on your drag car when racing at anything other than a true national event, at tracks like Cayuga or St Thomas?
There used to be a beautiful orange '69 Camaro that ran Cayuga regularly, and I think one of the reasons it appealed to me (over many other cars) was the fact that it didn't run any stickers on it. Although the car had a full chassis and was slammed with massive "meats" under the back, I could totally picture it as a street driven car. At an IHRA event held at Cayuga, the owner of the Camaro did put stickers on it, in hopes of some contingency money, but removed them after the event.
I never understood covering ones car with stickers if there was no chance of any real benefit. Advertising for a local car dealer, parts house, paint shop, tire shop etc I can understand, but coating a car in stickers "just because" .... that I don't get.
This appears to be Jungle Jim, but the woman pictured doesn't seem to have her weight distributed quite the same as Pam Hardy did (yeah, trying to be polite here). She also doesn't appear to have the typical "trophy girl" physique either .... did Jungle "trade up" at some point?

Am I missing something?
They paid money for Class and Eliminator wins at National Events and Points races. Not all companies paid for class wins.

Pint and a Pound: Back at Cayuga years back, if you won your'e class running stock, at that time you got a pat on the back and a Gold Oval water transfer decal that stated :
"Dragway Park"
Re: the Edsel: Back a few years ago i was going through a Manitoba dragstrip sight pics, and there was a 410?? Edsel running there with two fours, i think in a dragster? (Years ago.)
Those engine explosions,, SCAREY!! But still awesome photography!!
Full crew on deck there, anyone know what/who broke?
No-one broke. They used some traction compound that didn't work as it was suppose to. There was a road grader scraping the track, then a washing / scrubbing with Tide Soap by hand and with a street cleaner. I think it was about a 5 hour wait, then John Troxell went up and made some test launch's with his SS/O Olds. 1975 WCS Meet.
They must sell a lot of "TIDE" takes quite a bit to scrub down a whole track.
(Man, a 5 hour wait!!)
Great pics again RWW!! Thanks for posting these. GOOD stuff!
