Just finished painting my sun visor red with a vintage Ford logo. I never know if the stuff I do is acceptable or another stupid idea un til AFTER I complete it so here's hoping I got this one right. I changed the visor from cream colour to red and added a little pin striping too. So much to do and learn.
Just a heads up for all you painters out there. We’ve all heard about the Harbor Freight “purple” spray gun, the one that some guys like for primer and then throw away after one use because they’re so cheap. Well, Princess Auto has the same gun in their latest flier for just $17.99, same design and spec...
Took my truck in to have the gas gauge and speedometer repaired at Thompson's on Armour today. Expensive (what isn't) but very knowledgable guys. Told me to find someone in Canada who can repair a cluster. Speedometer is seized and the gas gauge isn't reading right. Might as well get the whole clu...

This will be the last year for the Lindsay Swap meet if a new group cannot be found to put it on. The AACA group have aged out no longer having the manpower to put it on. This will be a shame as one of the only swap meets for its size that is 90% automotive. Hoping they can find a group to take it over. Anyone here h...

Not that long ago, the spray on hydro-chrome system was the latest and proposed to be the greatest thing since sliced bread. What happened to it all? The system and the people involved in it seemed to have vanished. I would have to guess the cost got out of hand, or the durability of the finish just wasn't...

We all have heard the old saying, that if you learned something new today it was a good day. I guess I had a good day as I learned something new but it is turning into a pain in the ass trying to find one. lol I stopped into the shop in Peterboro where they are certifying a 2005 p/t for me to see how it was comin...
I was talking to another car nut about starting a car that has been sitting for some time. I told him I was taking some gas, a battery, jumper cables and ether starting fluid. He said not to use ether as it will wash the oil off the cylinder walls. Use brake cleaner instead. Isn't brake cleaner for removin...

Poor guy. Hope he gets it across at some point. Vehicles 25 years and older subject to tariffs. Think this makes cars already in Canada more valuable? -- Edited by 69SS454 on Sunday 23rd of March 2025 08:16:37 AM

On Friday I had the opportunity to visit a machine shop that was making up railings for a local business. The top rail was formed aluminum tubing and there wasn't a kink in any bend, and there were a lot of bends. I wondered out loud how they got such a clean bend and they told me they were done by a local gar...
Hi, This is a long, heavy post but please bear with me. I'm hoping someone here can help me understand and navigate the rules for licensing and insuring a full-on custom that's not based on a production car. I know that you can build and, if the certifying mechanic deems it built safely and correctly, ha...

I have owned this car for over 20 years. I started with big ambitions and low budget intending to make a nice car out of it. Got married , bought a house, 2 daughters came along. In other words, life got in the way. I never forgot about the car or even considered selling it. I was hoping to have it done in time e...

I am trying to figure out how to get pictures on here. If I go to the "tree" it is looking for some address. I thought at one point I could go to a "landscaping" type picture and click on it and I could then get my pictures.
Some of you probably know I like woodworking. Once Christmas is past and all the kids/grandkids/nephews toys are done I keep going making toys for others. I just finished 60 of these things. My wife Sue is an excellent painter, she does all the lettering if we make signs and such, so she daubed some colo...

I just ran across a post on FaceBook by a game named Owen Jeancart in HOME BUILT HOT RODS that looks interesting. He shows how he made disc brake covers from pizza pans. So my question is, are these used just to dress up disc brakes or do they help with cooling ? Should I go out and buy two pizza pans and sta...

I've wanted a louver press for a long time now. Unfortunately the price of the dies is way out of reach for me to just to have around. I built a press break a few years back, so I have the squishing means to do it. Just needed to figure out a cheap way of making dies. To the scrap pile for an old leaf spring, a left...
I used three pieces of 3/4" plywood for both 'wheels' and once I achieved a basic pulley shape to accomodate the tube, I added two piecees (per wheel) of steel to brace the wood and bolted them on the top and bottom. Next I'll add the base and larger center bolts and a lever and a few small brackets to hold...
