Progress is slow but I am enjoying the task of tidying up my wiring and I prefer doing it in the summer. It just seems like working on a rod in the summer makes a nice summer memory. Nicer if someone joined me but I'll enjoy as best I can. I have cleaned off my bench numerous times already but you can't tell...
Since last year I have not been able to work on my car because my health has gone down hill. I handed the car over to a street rod builder to finish, He is having problems getting door seals and even a Holley fuel injection unit. I want to know if anyone is having problems getting their parts . With this perso...
Set of Richmond 4:10 gear, ring and pinion for GM 12 bolt series 4. Excellent condition, less than 500 miles. Reason for selling; moved from city to country, and the 4:10's were too much gear for me now. Switched to 3:55's, otherwise I would still have them in. Lol.$300.00 -- Edited by BRIAN 71 on Tues...
As it says, I am looking for a 1937 ford front transverse spring with stock eyes. I think they were the same from 1937 to 1942. I specifically need the main leaf. Thanks Warren
I need to find the vin number on my 42 ford pickup but can't find it. I looked on the dash and on top of the frame rail on the driver side in front of the firewall. No luck. I looked on the door edge and the door frame. No luck. I understand it is also on top of the bell housing but that's no good to me. I can't get a...
Carburetor rebuilt I'm looking to have a Carter WA-1 single-barrel carburetor from a 1950 Hudson Pacemaker 500 rebuilt. Is there any shop or trusted contact that I can reach out to? Hand Brake Cable: Does anyone know where I can find or order the hand brake cable — specifically, the one that runs fro...
This Saturday is the Lakeside car show at the Cobourg beach. A great show that does not advertise rods but they will not turn them away. They average 250 cars and that almost maxes the size area the town lets them use. I enjoy watching some of the volleyball matches (for the competitive side of it).
I have owned this car for over 20 years. I started with big ambitions and low budget intending to make a nice car out of it. Got married , bought a house, 2 daughters came along. In other words, life got in the way. I never forgot about the car or even considered selling it. I was hoping to have it done in time e...

I'm either the unluckiest person in the world or there is a disturbing trend happening. The day of a big road trip, the mechanical fuel pump on my 440 Challenger started to leak at the diaphragm. It was an expensive Mopar Performance unit but what can you do right? Bought a replacement and sucked it u...

I have a 42 Ford pick up with a door that will not lock. I made a tool that allows me access to the base of the handle but when I push back the spring loaded mechanism, I can find no screw that allows me to remove the handle from the door interior. Please advise. I need access to the door lock from the inside....
Took my truck in to have the gas gauge and speedometer repaired at Thompson's on Armour today. Expensive (what isn't) but very knowledgable guys. Told me to find someone in Canada who can repair a cluster. Speedometer is seized and the gas gauge isn't reading right. Might as well get the whole clu...

Just finished painting my sun visor red with a vintage Ford logo. I never know if the stuff I do is acceptable or another stupid idea un til AFTER I complete it so here's hoping I got this one right. I changed the visor from cream colour to red and added a little pin striping too. So much to do and learn.
Just a heads up for all you painters out there. We’ve all heard about the Harbor Freight “purple” spray gun, the one that some guys like for primer and then throw away after one use because they’re so cheap. Well, Princess Auto has the same gun in their latest flier for just $17.99, same design and spec...
About 10 years ago a friend dropped in to our place with a request - " would you guys ( first my wife then myself) be my Executor?" he asked.'Of course " we replied, Then about a year ago the same friend wanted to talk about his final requests. He's a single guy, retired and a collector of all things. All his f...
I watched a video about wiring and the guy showed some grommets that were $35 US each ------------ so I made some instead. Took a while but I think they will work on both sides of the firewall. Took a day and some scrap stainless and an old inner tube. I'm ok with them. On to the next thing !

This will be the last year for the Lindsay Swap meet if a new group cannot be found to put it on. The AACA group have aged out no longer having the manpower to put it on. This will be a shame as one of the only swap meets for its size that is 90% automotive. Hoping they can find a group to take it over. Anyone here h...

Not that long ago, the spray on hydro-chrome system was the latest and proposed to be the greatest thing since sliced bread. What happened to it all? The system and the people involved in it seemed to have vanished. I would have to guess the cost got out of hand, or the durability of the finish just wasn't...

I was talking to another car nut about starting a car that has been sitting for some time. I told him I was taking some gas, a battery, jumper cables and ether starting fluid. He said not to use ether as it will wash the oil off the cylinder walls. Use brake cleaner instead. Isn't brake cleaner for removin...
Poor guy. Hope he gets it across at some point. Vehicles 25 years and older subject to tariffs. Think this makes cars already in Canada more valuable? -- Edited by 69SS454 on Sunday 23rd of March 2025 08:16:37 AM

On Friday I had the opportunity to visit a machine shop that was making up railings for a local business. The top rail was formed aluminum tubing and there wasn't a kink in any bend, and there were a lot of bends. I wondered out loud how they got such a clean bend and they told me they were done by a local gar...
Hi, This is a long, heavy post but please bear with me. I'm hoping someone here can help me understand and navigate the rules for licensing and insuring a full-on custom that's not based on a production car. I know that you can build and, if the certifying mechanic deems it built safely and correctly, ha...

I am trying to figure out how to get pictures on here. If I go to the "tree" it is looking for some address. I thought at one point I could go to a "landscaping" type picture and click on it and I could then get my pictures.
Some of you probably know I like woodworking. Once Christmas is past and all the kids/grandkids/nephews toys are done I keep going making toys for others. I just finished 60 of these things. My wife Sue is an excellent painter, she does all the lettering if we make signs and such, so she daubed some colo...
